Why Is The Advanced Night Repair Serum So Good?
For a
really long time it's been around since 1982 and i mean despite being such a legendary
formula decades old it's actually pretty advanced hence the name advanced night
repair and they've actually recently upgraded the formula.
So the
key to understanding formulas is actually understanding their promises and trying
to see what their thought process was and what they were trying to get at when
they were putting all of these ingredients together a r promises to address multiple
signs of aging namely dry and crappy looking skin dullness or the loss of
radiance and fine lines or the loss of firmness.
I feel
like it's really important to say that aging is never a bad thing i feel like
there's a lot of ageism and age-shaming in the world and the pressure to
actually look very young is very strong but i don't think there's anything
wrong with wanting to age gracefully and wanting to keep your skin as healthy
as possible and will do just that visibly enhancing your skin's quality.
It works In Two Ways:
As you
break down the ingredients you'll see that it does work in two ways the first
way is strengthening your skin's barrier and microbiome so when they said
anti-aging
they meant that they're really going to find a way to make sure that your skin
is protected from external factors the top layer of your skin or your skin's
barrier really protects all the layers underneath from all the environmental
aggressors that can damage your skin making it look relatively aged.

And even the blue light that is emitted from your phone screens or computer screens the second part is hydration and hydration is and will always be key proper hydration can restore bounciness plumpness and radiance and reverse the visible signs of skin aging instantly and over time.
INGREDIENTS
• Water
Okay now
let's get down to the ingredients its first ingredient is water which makes it a water-based serum so it's really great for
all skin types.
•Probiotic
The next
ingredient is a probiotic called the
bafilda ferments lysate so this ingredient
really strengthens your microbiome
or that skin's barrier so it really cocoons it and protects it from external
aggressors.
•Another
probiotic it has is the lactobacillus
ferment which is an interesting ingredient because it's commonly used for
the gut it's in drinks like yakult and it's great for your gut but also for your
skin so it keeps a healthy mix of flora on your skin and really helps reduce
your risk of contacting diseases and you know other skin irritations that of
course will inflame your skin and eventually cause aging.
•Antioxidants
It also
has a bunch of other antioxidants and these really just help reinforce the
shield on your skin barrier and these are algin
extract, coliseum extract and caffeine another thing that you want to
prevent is inflammation think of a grape and then think of it inflaming and
then shriveling up into a raisin and that's what happens when your skin gets inflamed
time and time again so you really want to avoid that.
And it has
chamomile extract and bisabalol and these two ingredients
really help prevent your skin from getting inflamed and soothing any remaining
inflammation okay so all of those ingredients that i've mentioned really helps
skin barrier protects it, repairs it and makes sure that it's healthy.
•Humectant And Emollients
The next
ingredients that i'll be talking about would be all about hydrating the skin so
when they said they were gonna hydrate the skin they really said maximum
hydration it has two types of hydrating ingredients humectants and emollients.
So humectants really bind moisture and
bring it into the skin the first one is sodium
hyaluronate or hyaluronic acid.
It's a pretty popular ingredient that really helps all of the moisture sink
deep into your skin it takes all of the water
molecules
in the air and binds it into your skin and that really helps maintain the water
balance, which is important because to be honest balance is key. You really never
want to be too oily or too dry and normal skin is the goal.
Aside
from hyaluronic acid it has all of these other ingredients that are all also humectants,
aside from humectants they're also emollients, so if humectants really bind
water and deliver it deep into your skin emollients focus on the top layers and
make sure that it's moisturized and that really gives you that soft looking and
soft feel.
•Squalene
We have
this ingredient called squalene which is really interesting because it's a
bio-compatible ingredient meaning , it's something that actually exists on your
face. So when you put extra squalene on it, your skin already knows what to do with
it, so it's absorbed really well. Squalene is actually your sebum, so it's the
oil that's secreted from your skin. And you know as i said balance is key,
aside from squalane it also has these two other emollients which are also
really good and helps hydrate your skin.
Okay so
there are a few other ingredients worth mentioning and i separated these
ingredients because they're quite unique.
•Baobab extract
So the
first one is the baobab extract and this comes from a tree. That is native to Africa
which for years in Africa has been used for medicinal purposes. It's said to
signal a molecule that boosts the skin's repair process so it encourages your
skin to keep producing fresh new skin cells.
•Tripeptide 32
The second
ingredient is the tripeptide 32. It's interesting
because it's supposed to help with your skin's circadian rhythm. During the day
supposedly your skin goes into protect mode and then during the night your skin
goes into repair mode.
Peptides
usually signal cells to do things. So depending on what type of
peptide
it is it can signal the cell to do things. Such as fix their skin circadian
rhythm.
The third
one is Sodium RNA. It's supposed to
make your skin more plump and firmer.
And the
last one is yeast extract so we've
talked about a bunch of fermented
ingredients but this yeast extract
specific to the one, really assists the tripeptide 32 in making sure that your circadian rhythm and your nightly repair cycle happens the way it should.
•Preservatives And Texture
Enhancer Ingredients
The rest
of the ingredients are just preservatives
and texture enhancers.
Caprylyl
Glycol, Tetrasodium EDTA, BHT, Potassium Sorbate, Disodium EDTA,
Phenoxyethanol.
Ceteth-24,
Tocopheryl Acetate, Triethanolamine, Xanthan Gum, Carbomer.
When you
see these intimidating looking ingredients, you don't get scared of them and
you just know that they're preservatives or texture enhancers.
Serum Texture
It's not
runny but it absorbs really easily without any stickiness.
The recommended
amount for the face is one dropper and it sets into this smooth dewy finish. That's
just really pretty. And massage it all over your face.

Okay i
already know that there are going to be questions about this so i feel, like
it's really important that we start talking about the price right now the 20
ml serum
goes for 2 900 php which is roughly 60 us dollars i wouldn't say it's an
exorbitant amount ,they're definitely serums that are way higher in price but
compared to other mainstream serums that are also very effective it is pretty
pricey.
I personally
favour brands that invest in research for their skin care, this is
actually
something that's very expensive to do as someone who has worked in cosmetics
and skin care formulations in the past i know that a lot of brands would just
go to factories see what base formulas they already have and just add
a few
ingredients a few cents a few texture enhancers slap their name on
a jar and
call it a day and this is actually more common than you think, which is why a
lot of brands can sell skincare for cheap so yes it's pricey but i think it is
well justified.
Okay just to wrap things up formula wise i give
this a 10 out of 10. Extremely well researched great blend of Ingredients.
